Hello, Umi here.

I went out to the Olive Oil Festival!

(OLIVE JAPAN® SHOW 2022 will be held at Courtyard Marriott in Ginza on July 3 and 4.)

It has been a long time since my last visit to Ginza. First, we had lunch at a restaurant that Azu found for us.

Itamae Cuisine

It was a very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere!

Matsusaka beef and grilled abalone with butter were so delicious that I fainted in agony. I wanted to chew it all the time.

Azu.

I almost lost track of time with Umi and the delicious food and good conversation, but my goal today was to find a good olive oil.

The venue this time was the banquet hall at the Marriott Hotel. Ideally, we would have liked the open-air feel of the outdoors, but we are just glad they held the event inside the Corona Disaster.

I started going around the venue with Umi and suddenly I found it!

My dream olive oil from DIEVOLE (Italy) ❣️

At the booth of M&m Olive (Sasebo, Nagasaki), represented by Mika Mori, I found the olive oil I was looking for!

Olive oil specialty store M&m

When I brought the tasting olive oil up to my nose, the fresh floral aroma was very powerful. Ah, this aroma is the best! I slowly put it in my mouth.

It is fruity and sweet. After the robust taste, a tangy sensation spreads down your throat. I was impressed by the world’s highest quality extra virgin olive oil.

Mr. Mori promoted the new product, saying, “Please try the new Favolosa! Mr. Mori recommended a new product to us.

This is very stimulating,” says Mori, smiling.

With the lingering taste of the first “Noccellara” still lingering in my mouth, I slowly sipped the next Favolosa.

The taste of olive oil that filled my mouth at ‼️ was unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

The bottle label is an eye-catching orange color, and it is truly a wondrous taste of fresh young tomatoes, grown in the Italian sun, and green as if in a meadow, that spread in my mouth!

I enjoyed the afterglow, imagining how delicious it would be with freshly baked toast or baguette. 

DIEVOLE New Favolosa

The price was a little high, but I didn’t hesitate to buy two bottles together for 10,800 yen (500 ml)! (Later, I checked M&m’s blog and found that it was sold out in two days.)

After finding the item we were looking for, we were thrilled to visit the other vendors’ booths and continue tasting the award-winning products.

Azu knows a lot about olive oil and can tell the difference in taste, and when I saw Azu talking enthusiastically with the waiter, I had a crush on him and said, “Azu, you’re so cool. ❤️

Olive oil tasting…I was asked to pour a little olive oil into a small cup and drink it as it was. I was thrilled to have a little bit of olive oil.

I tasted about 7 different kinds in all, and as a newbie to olive oil, I was drunk by the end. Olive oil.

All of the oils from all of the restaurants have won awards, and they are all delicious already! It was like encountering an unknown ingredient that was too good to be lumped together with the oils.

In addition to olive oil, there were numerous salts, sauces, and chocolates.

Modica Chocolate (Italy)

This chocolate is a rare type of chocolate made only with cacao (85%) and sugar, which is unique to Italy, a country that is very fussy about its food. (Found at the booth of Marukichi Oilery Marukichi (Osaka)

This Modica chocolate is said to have been made since the 16th century using traditional methods of the ancient Aztec civilization (‼︎)!

(My impression of eating this chocolate: Instead of mixing them together completely, there is still a zing of sugar in the cacao. (When melted slowly in the mouth, the balance between cacao and sugar changes, which alters the flavor and enhances the deliciousness.)

I also really enjoyed the Rolui Noccella del Enetoa (gold medal winner) that was at this booth. It is unfiltered, which makes the olives more powerful.

L’Oroi Noccellara

After buying what we wanted, we left the Marriott and moved on to buy their favorite food.

At Ginza Six, my favorite Bensaiten fruit daifuku.

Cutting with a thread…

Benzaiten Fruit Daifuku, fig

Hiyah~!

This one too…

Benzaiten Fruit Daifuku, muskmelon

Hiyahhhhhhhhh!

First of all, the fruit is extremely delicious. Then, the white bean paste and gyuhi wrap the fruit in such a perfect balance that they do not interfere with the sweetness of the fruit but rather enhance it. This is a masterpiece!

(I actually had watermelon, but I was too fond of it and forgot to take a picture! And I got an incredibly delicious shock~)

Extra (1).

I saw Yoda from Star Wars on my way home.

As a Star Wars enthusiast (Azu), I felt empowered just standing in front of Master Yoda.

My daughter is in the midst of a critically acclaimed final exam.

Afternoon of the day before the exam

Huh?

Afternoon ↓ on the 1st day of the examination

Oh, that?

Afternoon ↓ on the second day of the examination

Ahhhhhh…?

I can’t wait to see the results of this one!
