Today’s snack.
B.T.B. Sable” by Hiroo Hyogetsudo.
It was purchased at Grand Kiosk Shin-Yokohama.
The boxes were stylish and impactful.
This is a product of Hiroo Hyogetsudo.
Hiroo Hyogetsudo is a confectionery shop established in 1988. The store is located in Nakameguro, Tokyo, and is famous for its “Mukyosokusai” (six gourd snacks).
Products can be purchased at the Nakameguro store, Haneda Airport, Tokyo Station, Shinagawa Station, and Shin-Yokohama Station.
As I approached the sales floor…
Ahh! It’s a stylish one, no doubt!
It says “Sablet with the aroma of black truffle butter.”
B.T.B.” stands for “Black,” “Truffle” and “Butter.
I thought it was unusual and decided to buy a 3-pack!
The Grand Kiosk Shin-Yokohama had 3 pieces for 486 yen (tax included), 9 pieces for 1080 yen (tax included), and 18 pieces for 2160 yen (tax included).
Each one is individually wrapped.
The surface of the sable is covered with a generous amount of seasoning (which I thought was sugar before I ate it).
Dough is quite firm. Crunchy.
When I tried it…
「!!?!」
It tastes different from what I imagined!
I had imagined a “sweet sable” on my own. Or rather, I had an image of a sweet sable!
but not sweet! It is salty!
It does not taste like a pastry, but more like a snack or something you would find a la carte at an Italian or French restaurant.
Read the product description carefully,
The base sable dough is baked to a crispy texture with Japanese butter, truffle oil and bouillon, and the surface is finished with an original seasoning powder blended with black truffles. The moment you put it in your mouth, you will enjoy the rich and elegant aroma of black truffles, the flavor of butter, and the luxuriousness of truffles in this exquisite sweet. (quoted from Hiroo Hyogetsudo website)”.
I see!
So what was on the sable was a seasoning powder blended with black truffles.
I also tasted cheese. The taste of black truffle and butter also filled my mouth.
Each sable is packed with delicious flavors.
The shelf life is 60 days from the date of manufacture at room temperature.
(The expiration date of the one I purchased on December 8, 2022 was January 28, 2023.)
This is the only way to drink!
I think it is perfect for beer, wine, champagne, etc.
It will be appreciated by those who like to drink and those who do not consume much sweet food.
I will buy it as a souvenir for my father back home.
I was kind of happy to have found a new kind of snack.
Thank you for the food… ♪
