Today’s pudding.
It is “Only Kimi Pudding” by Iwaki Tono Rapan.
This is a “corn” pudding!
I found this pudding at a Tohoku products exhibition at a destination the other day.
I’ve never had corn pudding before, but I’ve also never heard the name “Take (only) Kimi” before.
Kimi” is a brand of corn with a sugar content that can be eaten raw, grown and harvested in the “Mitake Plateau” of Mount Iwaki in the western part of Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture.
In Tsugaru dialect, corn is called “kimi.
Corn pudding…what in the world does it taste like?
When you open the lid of the jar, the aroma of corn wafts through the air.
Wow~~! It’s so much corn!
The taste of corn is quite strong.
It is not pudding-like sweetness, but corn sweetness.
It tastes like something you would find in a French appetizer. Like a “cold corn soup” (I’ve never had it, but that’s the image I have…). It tastes fashionable.
The “Takekimi” corn is quite tasty.
But is the taste too strong? I felt a kind of greenish or eggy taste.
I imagined it would mellow out, but the firmness did not change much until the inside.
The texture was a bit rough on the tongue.
I felt as if I had seen a new world of pudding, different from the pudding I usually eat.
This may not be to your liking.
It was like a “vegetable sweet” that is easy on the body. It is quite authentic!
